a story about life:

it became apparent that no matter how hard we tried, we could not manage to avoid the sheer and simple fact of progression. time, mocked by our youthfulness, snuck in at night and found a way to curve in the depth of our cheeks, to widen our hips and breasts, and we woke up one day, staring at photographs of ourselves, or catching a random glimpse in a window we were passing, to the fact that, no matter how hard we might fight it,
we were women.
